Fort Meade - USNA - Andrews AFB: One short blog

One short blog

Just my opinion:  I'm not impressed, or even interested, when I see a one-sentence blog such as "I've been a real estate agent in (name of city) for over 10 years, so please call me if you'd like to buy a home here."  Or even a one-paragraph blog with no information or opinion or question.  Or... speaking of questions, how about the open-ended question blog?  "Does anybody know anything about financing?" for example.   lol.

But short is fine, if there is "content" included.  Some of the best blogs I've read have been short ones.  Just remember, there's more to ActiveRain then racking up points, one short blog at a time.  But I thought I'd give it a try, just this once.

I'm guilty of short blogs, but hey i do talk alot to make up for it, this is the right place for finance questions. The only thing is after being in the biz for as long as you have i think you know plenty about financing, i have a big smile on my face right now. so hello.....

Good luck..

I understand what you are saying but also keep in mind that the sometimes little is more. Some people may not want to read or may not have the time to read a 5000 word blog. So I guess the quality is in the eyes of the reader.I try to give a decent size blog when I am in a creative mood. Sometimes there are some of my subjects that don't require such a large blog.

I write short posts only because if I have a question and I want a response from the members.Just a quick read and response and then they can get back to doing "work" or more posts. My next post might have more.

thanks

Some people are more wordy than others.  Some just get right to the point and ask the question or make a statement about what they want or offer and others add in a whole bunch of other stuff to go along with it.

I tend to be wordy, but "To each his own".

Really short posts don't bother me as long as they are useful. I agree though that sometimes I see posts that are pointless. This is also true of some longer posts though so...

Ali- no posts are "pointless" unless they are under 50 words (is that the number?)- but in all seriousness, once an effort is made to curtail different styles and methods, this forum will lose its value for the majority.

Maureen - Yes, quality is what counts.  But I'm sure you've seen the one-liners that clearly are posted for the mere purpose of getting 200 easy points!  There's someone in my marketplace who posts a lot of the one paragraph blogs for the same purpose.  If only they included something worth saying.

Tom - Back at ya with the smile!

Ray - Nothing wrong with a question, but it might generate more discussion to enhance it a little with a story that inspired the question, or the conflict you perceive.  I haven't read YOUR posts, but just generally speaking.

Becki, Ali, and Laurie - I think that Ali summed it up by saying "as long as they are useful."

Thanks all, for reading and commenting!

People should be allowed to post questions, so they get some suggestions and help with a problem. But these should not be considered for points, in my opinion. This will discourage the people posting  just for points.

We are here to share information and help and learn from each other. I agree quality counts. If I see a very long post, I skip it  sometimes because there may not be enough time to read a very long post .

i have seen some very good long posts with useful info as well as one paragraph posts that have very good info.

I'm wordy, but my last post was just a Real Estate Show, it spoke for itself. The "me me me" short posts surely turn off your potential client base, BEWARE.  The fun short ones can be great if they're done right.  I obviously wasn't posting for points (no words, no points!) but the ones that are so CAREFUL to get just enough words are so irritating!

I liked your short post!  :o)

I just didn't have time for a thoughtful and informative blog the other day, and I had just finished reading a bunch of short postings that were either shameless self-promotion or questions without any context.  So I figured "What the heck" - I can do short, too!  No intent to criticize... Honest!
