Fort Meade - USNA - Andrews AFB: Meme'd in Maryland

Meme'd in Maryland

If you have never heard the term "meme", you're not alone.  As far as I know, it is unique to ActiveRain.  let me briefly explain - Another member of the ActiveRain Community "tagged" me to share 5 things about myself with others in the network, so here goes:

My philosophy - It's all about YOU-YOU-YOU.  If I always put YOU first, we'll both always win.  Try it... it works!  (Note: This is the exact opposite of me-me.)

My life - No drama, no adventure, no secret dreams or passions to reveal here on ActiveRain.   ‘Been there, ‘done that, and survived.  I won't bore you with the details because you're probably living them now, as I once did.  If you live long enough, you might someday be content like me.

My family - ‘Wish I could put them on my resume, because nothing makes me prouder.   Married for 40 years (July 15), four children, three grandkids and two more on the way.  Everyone is healthy, happy, and successful with no ongoing family dramas to report.  Yawn...

My career -  ‘Started out as an elementary school music teacher, but San Diego didn't have music/art teachers when my husband was transferred there in ‘68, so I got a job in a real estate office.  The rest, as they say, is history.  I still have a perfect record for no fall-throughs and no complaints to the Association or Real Estate Commission during my career as an agent, a branch manager, a broker of record, a title company owner, and a trainer/mentor to literally thousands of agents.

My home - ‘Born in D.C., raised in Maryland, and lived in Crofton since 1971.  We're in our 5th house in the community, having started out with a townhouse, moved up twice, and down twice.  Lol.   We must like it here!  You will often see "I LOVE Maryland" in my email or blog signature for that very reason.

------------------------

Okay, Mr. Belonger, you asked for my meme and you got it.  Now, I'm supposed to tag three more people, so here goes:

Katie Landon, the first person that I invited to ActiveRain - I met Katie first as a prospective home buyer, then she worked as my part-time assistant, and now she's a REALTOR in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware.  I know she'll love ActiveRain, and maybe this will help her get started.  http://activerain.com/klandon

Lauren Corna, the #1 featured agent in Tarrant County, Texas.  We don't know each other, but my daughter just relocated to your area and she's going to be needing a real estate agent... http://activerain.com/blessings5

Kathy Manigrasso, another ActiveRainer from Tarrant County, Texas - Your profile is warm, friendly, brief... and it makes me want to get to know you.  http://activerain.com/kmanigrasso

Good Morning Margaret! You're a bolder woman than I! Mr. - is it Bell-ahhn-jaihr? or Bee-lon-grrr? - is quite the meme-er!! He meme'd me as soon as I hit this site, never even blogged before, & still finding my way around. Well I've worked on it, but hesitate to post.....

Have a terrific week!

Nice to meet you Margaret! It sounds like you have had the perfect life! What's your secret?
Posted by Rhode Island Realtor ~ Karen Hurst ~ www.stonehurstrealty.com (STONEHURST REALTY) over 4 years ago

Ha ha, Karen - Far from perfect...  I lived through the single mom years (with my husband deployed to Vietnam), normal marital conflicts, balancing kids recitals, games and sick days with my work, waiting up half the night for my teens to come home safely, providing end-of-life care for my dad, babysitting the grandkids, and riding the ups and downs of the market for over 30 years - but all has turned out "ok". The secret you asked... if any, I guess it goes back to my YOU-YOU-YOU philosophy in work and life.  Thanks for commenting, and hang in there.  You too have earned the right to enjoy your retirement years!

Deborah - You can do it, you can do it, you can do it.  You'll quickly learn what works in the world of blogging.  If people read it, you must have had a catchy title - if they don't, you might need to revise it.  If they read it and don't comment - you must not have had worthwhile content, so take another look at that.  It's so easy to revise, don't be afraid to try. Margaret Woda, Crofton MD

Margaret,

Now that sounded more like my life!  I may have earned the right to retirement years, but this (Real Estate) is a career change for me and I am expecting to work for a long time!  I guess your real secret is in your perspective! I like that.

Hi, and thanks for your comment, Margaret.  I had to chuckle... I've always used that Margaret in Maryland "thing" and that's how you greeted me when I first started posting to ActiveRain..  Must be a Margaret "thing" -  lol.  And, if anyone ever gets us mixed up, it won't be a problem because we're in different markets and we can refer to each other.

And it looks like another Margaret heard from, in the form of Maggie from Miami.  Thanks for your comment - I'm hoping my health and luck hold out so I can enjoy this for a while.

Margaret...

I had to pop by and visit the woman who respected my independent attitude. Now I see why. Geez. You sound a lot like me.

If I had to sum myself up in a meme it would much like yours :)

Margaret, I get that a lot about my name.  My full name is actually Magdalena.  Shortly after arriving in the States from Cuba someone shortened it to Maggie.  It stuck.  =)

Margaret, You sound like someone with a sure and steady compass... no wonder you have such fantastic bragging rites. Love  your YOU philosophy. Take care out there in Maryland!

Welcome Margaret! Thanks for sharing you with us. We all get to know each other better this way. I love that you love Maryland! I feel that way about where I live - Arizona! Our daughter lives in Rockville, MD though, so we do like to visit Maryland as well. Very, very green and lush.

I don't think that having a blessed life like you do is a "yawn."  I think it's wonderfully wonderful!

Good morning, Julianna, thanks for reading and commenting!

Yes, Teri, VERY green here in MD, but Arizona is a beautiful place, too.

Hi Margaret!  Thanks for tagging me...although I'm still not sure I know what a "meme" is???  Is there an activerain glossary around here for the non-cognoscente??  LOL, try as I may, somedays I still feel like roadkill on the information superhighway!!  Thank you for what you said about me.  That really made me feel good.  And you know, I think that is one of the nicest perks of our business---it's OK to be touchy feely and show people that you care.  I really love that!  So....((((HUGS)))) to you, Miss Margaret!!!

If your daughter needs help getting acclimated down here, I would be honored to be of assistance.  I've lived in Tarrant County for over 20 years and I LOVE showing off our hot spots to newcomers, so don't be shy!

It's been great meeting you.  I'm happy to know someone in Maryland--I think you are the first.  Have a fabulous weekend!

Hi, Kathy -

I'm looking for your me-me, and I'm not seeing it on your blog or in the http://activerain.com/groups/memes.   I don't also don't see it on http://activerain.com/blogsview/107861/Meme-Tutorial-and-Alphabetical, so I'm guessing that Lucky didn't pick it up either.

Did you post your me-me, and we just missed it?  If not, be sure to read the links in my message, and follow the steps outlined.  You are expected to publish YOUR me-me and tag three people.

Laura, I just want to thank you again for your me-me.  I was looking through some of my old postings, and I was reminded that you're the only one I invited who has participated.

Hi Margaret! Ok it took me over a month to get to this but I am ready willing and eager to learn to blog and meme!

You have been my biggest inspiration in the Real Estate world.  I enjoyed working with you so much that I want to be as sucessful and happy as you are.  Its a struggle these days but I will pull through with your wonderful words of wisdom.

Thank you for bringing me to the ActiveRain network and all your words of encouragement!  You are the BEST in my world!

In the interest of full disclosure...  I cursed myself by putting in writing that I never had a fall-through.  'Had my first one in July, but I have a clear conscience so it doesn't upset me other than the fact I can't cite my "perfect" record any more.

Katie -I look forward to your meme and your future blogs.  This is a wonderful way to set yourself apart from other agents in Rehobeth and generate some good referral business.  I'll bring my laptop when I visit you in Rehobeth, and we can ActiveRain together!
