It's National Cheesecake Day tomorrow, July 30, and we plan to use the occasion as an excuse to visit The Cheesecake Factory in Annapolis for the first time.
Ironically, my daughter tells me they have good salads... Really? Who goes to a restaurant called The Cheesecake Factory for a salad? Well, she wasn't kidding. I checked the menu online this morning and it IS a full-service restaurant that does, indeed, offer salads. In fact, the menu is 20 pages long, so they obviously serve a LOT more things than cheesecake, in spite of the name!
I wanted to know more about this restaurant before going there, so I spent a little quality time on the website. It seems that its roots are in Detroit during the 1940's but the first Cheesecake Factory opened in L.A. during the 1970's, selling over 20 varieties of the dessert. A restaurant soon followed, and now there are locations nationwide in more than 150 locations including Columbia, the Baltimore Harbour and Annapolis Mall in Maryland - all within about a half hour of Crofton.
If you would like to celebrate National Cheesecake Day at a restaurant appropriately-named for the occasion, check out this list to find out if there is one near you: The Cheesecake Factory locations.

You mean I finally have a good excuse to eat cheesecake??? I LOVE the Cheesecake Factory and am already thinking of going there for my birthday in a few weeks. They have great omeletts, but that's NOT why I go there. Salads? You've gotta be kiddin' me!
Margaret,
I've eaten at about three of them. And as you point out, the menu is extensive. Perhaps, TOO extensive to choose one thing only and not regret maybe I should have had the other. And same problem with choosing one flavor of cheesecake. Really good though!
We were in Kansas City, MO soon after the US women's soccer team won the world cup....I ran into several members of the team in the ladies' room of the Cheesecake Factory in Country Club Plaza...when they exited the restaurant (we were sitting on the patio outside), word had apparently gotten out they were there, because the sidewalk was packed with pre-teens screaming for them. It was a wonderful memory! Oh, yeah, their cheesecake is scrumptious, too...thanks for a reason to head out for a slice!
I love the Cheesecake Factory, unfortunately we don't have one here in St George Ut. I've never tried their salads, but they've got delicious pasta. My favorite cheesecake is the one with "tuxedo" in it's name!
Tough week for diets ... yesterday our office observed National Lasagna Day, and there's a Cheesecake Factory just a couple of blocks away.
We cheated... we went there for dinner tonight - a day before National Cheesecake Day. They're having a special tomorrow - 1/2 price for any slice of cheesecake, so there's another reason to go.
Patsy - Yes, I think that's a good excuse!
Bill and Liz - The menu is a bit overwhelming. Half as long would have provided plenty of options. We did decide on the apple strudel cheesecake (2nd from the bottom on the list) and it was scrumptious. No regrets there!
Erika - Just think of all the calories you're avoiding. See, there is a silver lining.
Susan, I'm betting there's a Cheesecake Factory in Northern Virginia... maybe more than one. You can write off the whole meal if you go there to research it for your real estate blog, right?
My office blew it with lasagna day... it was a natural for an office celebration, but alas... none, nada...
Did you say half priced cheese cake. Damn the bikini full and full steam ahead. Oh wait I haven't worn a biknini in 25 years :-)
We should have planned an AR meeting at the Cheesecake Factory. We have one in the harbor and one in Towson. Never had cheesecake there, always too full from the main course. Sounds perfect for a dessert date!
Margaret
Cindy. Bikini... what's that? HAHA
Margaret - Yes, let's plan that for a lunch get-together on July 30 next year. We only ate half our dinner tonight and packed up the rest to take home so we could share a piece of Dutch Apple Cinnamon Streusel Cheesecake. Hmmm, hmmm, good!
Margaret - The Cheesecake Factory doesn't seem to have any Canadian locations. I guess I'll need to find cheesecake somewhere else. Have a very Happy National Cheesecake Day!
I like their chicken salad!
Bikinis indeed. LOL I love the excuse to eat cheesecake! :)
Marc - I have a GREAT recipe, if you need one!
Linda - I'll have to try that!
Connie - 1/2 price today for a slice of cheesecake at The Cheesecake Factory!
I thought every day was National Cheesecake Day - I took your advice and just added a post about photos and posted it Active Rain Newbies
Terrific... I'll bet you'll reach a lot of people just starting out there, Karen.
I agree about cheesecake every day, but the "holiday" was a GREAT excuse for my family to try this restaurant we had never before visited.
