Fort Meade - USNA - Andrews AFB: A Sunday Tour of Anne Arundel County Waterfront Properties

A Sunday Tour of Anne Arundel County Waterfront Properties

Considering an Anne Arundel County waterfront home when you relocate to the D.C. area?

Shady Side, where two of these homes are located, is just 30 miles from Andrews AFB and 35 miles from the White House.  The third property is located in Churchton, a little closer to Andrews and D.C.

It was chilly and overcast yesterday, but that didn't slow us down on our scheduled tour of waterfront properties.  Using my camera, these homes and waterviews were snapped by my buyers, and I'm providing a very brief description of these three properties I showed them.

House #1House 1 Waterfront

House #1 - Four bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, 88-year old home, located on one acre along the West River.

Price:  $995,000
Taxes:  $8,362/yr.

House 2 waterfrontHouse #2House #2:

3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, 51-year old home, located on nearly 2 acres along the Chesapeake Bay

Price: $695,000
Taxes: $4,509

House 3House 3 waterfrontHouse #3:

3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 50 year old home, located on Broadwater Creek with a view to the Chesapeake Bay.

Price:  $999,000
Taxes: $4,998

180 other Anne Arundel County waterfront properties are on the market now for $1,000,000 or less:

Annapolis (22), Arnold (11), Churchton (4), Crownsville (2), Curtis Bay (5), Deale (5), Edgewater (11), Galesville (2), Glen Burnie (19), Lake Shore (5), North Beach (3), Orchard Beach (4), Pasadena (57), Riva (4), Severna Park (9), Shady Side (16), Tracys Landing (2), West River (2).

194 more Anne Arundel County waterfront properties are on the market for over a million dollars.

If you're active duty military or a mid-level government employee, and waterfront is over your budget, you may still enjoy some of Maryland's 17,000 miles of water by living in an Anne Arundel County water-access community.  Many of these neighborhoods have private beaches, marinas and/or boat ramps open only to property-owners and residents within the community.

Nice Listing Margaret, this looks like a great value and the taxes certainly do not represent the value of such a wonderful property.  Nice listing post Margaret.

Nice waterfront home Margaret. Someday Jay and I hope to live on the water..in the mean time we'll settle for camping on the water.

Margaret, so can you catch your own crabs?
Posted by Patricia Kennedy (Evers & Company Realtors) almost 4 years ago

Gary, thanks for commenting.  None are my listings, though - they're properties I showed.  (That's why I didn't give property addresses.)

Monika, Waterfront under $1,000,000 in this area often doesn't have deep water or needs extensive work or has other issues.

Thesa - First comes the contract.  My clients are interested in getting more information about all of these, but they're a long way from decision-time.

Patricia - Yes, theoretically.  Lots of new restrictions on crabbing this year, however.

These look lovely....I love the fact that you have so much property on the lots.  Around here people will kill for more than 0.15 acres. I'm one of the few people that has more than 1/2 an acre in this area.  I bought when real estate was doing badly (1996) and land was ridiculously cheap. These days, once the lot size goes up - so does the price - significantly.

Hi Margaret, Was the price to be over $100,000 or over $1,000 ? BTW, Nice editing on you customization of blogsite. Looks great!

Ruthmarie - Some of the waterfront homes are on very small lots, and two of the properties we inspected were, but they preferred these three with more sweepeing waterfront vistas.

William - Thanks for catching that.  It was right in the beginning, but I must have accidentally deleted those zeros when I made another edit.  Glad you like the custom blog - it took a lot of work to make it look so simple, with the gradient background and the photo from my other blog.

What a beautiful place to live.  It certainly looks as if there are a lot of great opportunties.  The pictures really help to get a feel for the area and the types and styles of homes.

Joan, Thank you!  Anne Arundel County is a beautiful place to live, and I'm happy to introduce real estate agents around the country so everyone will think of this area when they have a referral to D.C. or Baltimore.

Katie, my friend, GREAT to hear from you!  Has Rob opened his new restaurant yet?  You'll have to blog about the preparations and opening, complete wth photos.  I'd love to follow it.

Believe it or not, the last one is probably the neatest of the three houses, but there are so many aspects to all waterfront properties.  It can be very complex, as I'm sure you know from selling Rehobeth waterfront properties.

Hooray, you got your waterfront Buyers! Darn they aren't looking in the $2mil range. Great idea to take photos of homes you toured.

Thanks for the comment, Martha - No, they're going to put their architectural expertise to work on a fixer-upper.  Maybe next time.  'Hope you post lots of photos of your new waterfront listing.
