Imagine my surprise when I saw this video indicating my vote swung the election. Take a look... you might want to customize this and send it to your friends, regardless of your political viewpoint.
I guess the moral of this video is "Vote" (regardless of which candidate you support). Take a look at some of the ways history has been shaped by just one vote:
* 1645 - Oliver Cromwell gained control of England.
* 1649 - Charles I of England was executed.
* 1776 - America chose the English language instead of German.
* 1800 - The Electoral College gave Thomas Jefferson the Presidency over Aaron Burr.
* 1839 - Marcus Morton became Governor of Massachusetts.
* 1845 - Texas came into the Union.
* 1868 - President Andrew Johnson was saved from impeachment.
* 1876 - Rutherford D. Hayes won the Presidency of the United States.
* 1876 - France changed from a Monarchy to a Republic.
* 1916 - Woodrow Wilson won the Presidency by carrying California by less than one vote per precinct.
* 1923 - Adolph Hitler won leadership of the Nazi Party.
* 1948 - Harry Truman won the Presidency by carrying California with less than one vote per precinct.
* 1960 - John F. Kennedy won the presidency over Richard Nixon when he won Illinois by just one vote per precinct.

Margaret, a friend of mine sent me oneof these and I laughed myself silly! They must have a version with Obama winning by one vote!
Cute! I may try to cancel your vote, but this is cute! Well done!
Don't worry, Jim - If I'd voted, McCain would have won by two.
Patricia - I didn't see that one, but either way - pretty funny!
Margaret, that is funny. I think your information is interesting to show how important just one vote can be.
That's pretty impressive who would have know that one vote could make such a difference.
Margaret-- Thanks for the reminder about the importance of voting. Because of the electoral college system, just a few votes can tip a whole county, which can tip a whole state... you get the picture. So get out there everyone and vote!
Margaret, well worth the viewing and the read. Thanks for bringing this to us. Food for thought!
Morning Margaret,
Thanks for the post. It is a great reminder that everyone needs to get out and vote. This is a very challenging time and America needs to be heard and seen exercising their right to vote.
For the first time in my adult life, I voted early along with many, many others.
My daughter has already sent in her vote from the UK and I will be standing in line next week for however long it takes. This is a process that many people around the world would love to participate in. No matter who we choose to vote for we must vote.
Margaret, I'm looking forward to actually voting next week instead of spending all this time in anticipation. This seems like the longest election season(s) ever!
Margaret I love it that is terrific! Where did you get it from?
Wow! That was funny. By the way is there a special software that was used to type in your name. And am curious to know where you got this Margaret.
I've sent this to all my friends (red & blue!) I've gotten a lot of response! You can go on their site and register someone - CnnVideo - see what kind of response you'll get!
Oh I love this! I gotta gotta go do it. GBU!!
Margaret just think 1 vote and Texas would not be part of the United States how cool would that be???
KIDDING KIDDING!!! really I am KIDDING
Best,
Scott
Hi, All - I'm very rushed tonight (real estate business calls), so let me just answer the question about where I got this. The video was emailed to me by my son. At the very end of it, you can have it customized to send to your own friends, with their own names. As to the list, I've had that for years... since my daughter was in high school, some fifteen years ago, and pull it out each election season.
Margaret....what a great post! I'll have fun forwarding that to a few choice friends! And the voting history was so cool!
Margaret,
A very informative post indeed! It is true that every ones vote does matter and it is so important to get out and vote! Do your homework and study the candidates well, know what they stand for and what they are really about, not just what hype and information good or bad that the media feeds you! Then GET OUT and VOTE!
A friend sent me this today...I laughed myself silly. Of course, now we are ALL on moveon.org's mailing list as that's who set it up. LOL Thank God for the delete key.
Loved it saw this on Fox news earlier this evening. Thanks for sharing. I actually forwarded it to my FIL in Ohio.
Margaret,
This is just the best! Thanks for posting it.
Mike in Tucson
Margaret- That was alot of fun. I've already forwarded it to a couple people who I thought would get a kick out of it.
That was great I needed a good laugh today!!
Hi Margaret! It's not WHO you vote for--that's your personal decision--it's getting out and doing it! VOTE '08!
Margaret, I saw a report on Fox about this video tonight. Roger & I voted early on Saturday. There was an hour wait. 2,500,000 North Caronians have already cast their vote!
Ginger
I'm always amazed at the number of people that don't bother to vote... they are forgoing their opportunity to shape the direction in which the country moves... Whatever your political persuasion... GO VOTE... for McCain/Palin. haha
Margaret - great fun on Saturday morning!! I hope you don't mind I if I borrow the list. It's a great teaching tool. I feel strongly about voting and was able to vote Wednesday early. With my schedule I didn't want to take any chances.
